More music inspired by the cutting edge times of the early 80′s when I used to get my hair cut, spiked and gelled at a salon called Nouveau. Those days featured a lot of new wave music, a lot of gel and I once dyed my hair blue.

Back in 1981 when I was 16 I discovered new wave music and the Australian National University campus radio station 2XX where I started my radio career surrounded by a lot of cool people with a lot of hair gel!! I recently dug from my archive some old tapes with recordings of my earliest radio programs.. with my very embarrassing voice. But hell there’s some music from that era that I still love!!

I was inspired to create this mix featuring some of my favourite music from that era with those gals!!

Gel & spunks & rock’n'roll.. well more new wave than rock’n'roll. But there was plenty of gel & spunks back in the 80′s. I recently cleared out my home studio & re-discovered some of my vinyl collection & after years of searching I managed to find (on the internet) one of my favourite lost songs from the 80′s (oh no here we go again).. Pel Mel were a very fun & sexy band I used to see live around 1984 in the Sydney inner city new wave club scene.
I’m not a big fan of sentimentality (the now & the future is way more inspiring) but now that I have this spunky little tune in my ears again I want to share it. That track inspired this selection of music.
Click on the play button below for some trax that I used to play with gel in my hair way back when..
Oh yes it was the 80′s.. a friend & me.
