80′s Pandemonium Again!!

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

Gel & spunks & rock’n'roll.. well more new wave than rock’n'roll. But there was plenty of gel & spunks back in the 80′s. I recently cleared out my home studio & re-discovered some of my vinyl collection & after years of searching I managed to find (on the internet) one of my favourite lost songs from the 80′s (oh no here we go again).. Pel Mel were a very fun & sexy band I used to see live around 1984 in the Sydney inner city new wave club scene.
I’m not a big fan of sentimentality (the now & the future is way more inspiring) but now that I have this spunky little tune in my ears again I want to share it. That track inspired this selection of music.
Click on the play button below for some trax that I used to play with gel in my hair way back when..

Oh yes it was the 80′s.. a friend & me.
In the mix..
FGTH “Pleasuredome 12″, Models “Atlantic Romantic”, Hunters & Collectors “Loinclothing”, Laurie Anderson “Language Is A Virus”, Grace Jones “Slave To The Rhythm – Blooded”, Nina Hagen “Universal Radio”, Nona Hendrix “B,Boys”, Scritti Politti “Woodbeez 12″, Plan 8 “Undecided In Love”, Pel Mel “Pandemonium 12″, Tom Tom Club “Wordy Rappinghood 12″.

Alan McGee Of Creation Records

Friday, August 12th, 2011

I met up with Alan McGee, the man (& legend) who started Creation Records & signed Primal Scream, Oasis, Teenage Fanclub, Jesus & Mary Chain, Ride & many more. Alan was in Tokyo for Summer Sonic with a DJ spot & special screening of the film Upside Down, documenting the Creation Records days in the Acid House haze of the late 80′s & early 90′s. We discussed more than music – riots, drugs, cults & Wales. Click on the play button below to listen..
