Zachary Alford

I met up with drummer Zachary Alford in May 2013 while he was in Japan touring with rock star Tomoyasu Hotei. Zach was also the drummer on David Bowie’s latest album The Next Day and has worked with many leading artists including the B-52’s. But does he tap..?

In April 2013 I met up with British graphic designer Jonathan Barnbrook and we discussed his work including designing the jacket of the latest David Bowie album The Next Day, curating the Berlin period of the David Bowie retrospective at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and the logo for the Roppongi Hills complex in Tokyo.

It was a delight to meet Amanda Hyndman, General Manager of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Bangkok who was in Tokyo in May 2013. We discussed the legacy and the latest of this landmark hotel including the literary history and the coolest music bar in Bangkok.

The Bootleg Beatles

I haven’t met a Beatle yet but I have now met The Bootleg Beatles!! They’ve performed at Buckingham Palace for the Queen and been on tour with Oasis, they’ll perform at Glastonbury Festival 2013 and return to the Albert Hall London in 2014. Their first time in Japan they played the legendary Budokan and now on their return they play for an intimate audience at the Grand Hyatt Hotel Tokyo 10th Anniversary Party on Thursday May 30th 2013.

Together with my friends at Visit Britain I’ll be hosting the Music is Great Britain evening at the very cool Brooklyn Parlor cafe/bar in Shinjuku, Tokyo on Tuesday May 21 2013 and you’re invited!!

Join me as I spin some favourite British tunes that suit a London underground to New York downtown scene including Acid Jazz, Art Rock, Glam Rock and more. Enjoy drinks, dinner, deserts or coffee with friends.
