1990~
Guy was brought to Japan as chief DJ and Program Manager for the launch of the first Virgin Megastore in Japan in Shinjuku, Tokyo. As the company grew the position expanded into responsibility for in-store music programming, on-air promotions and DJ training/management for over 20 Virgin stores across Japan.
DJ and narrator for Virgin Group radio programs and CM spots on radio stations including J-Wave, Tokyo; Osaka FM and Funky 802 FM, Osaka; Alpha FM, Kyoto and Cross FM, Fukuoka.
DJ/MC for many Virgin Group events including Fuji TV Beat UK Popstock Festival, Virgin Cola launch, Men’s Club Fashion Collective, Virgin Atlantic Airways Upper Class lounge opening party at Narita airport, Richard Branson global balloon expedition promotion event, Fuji Rock Festival ’98, ’99, ’01 Virgin club tents and chillout zones, Virgin Atlantic Airways 2009 25th anniversary party.

Set up, manages and is chief DJ of Virgin Mega Station – the Virgin Group’s 24 hour cable radio station broadcast across Japan to all 30 Virgin stores, Virgin Cinemas and Marui department stores.

DJ’d onboard Virgin Atlantic Airways flight VS901 from Tokyo to London on September 6 as part of the DJ In The Sky with Virgin Atlantic Airways inflight program series initiated by Guy.

2005~2008
Japanese music retail giant Tsutaya bought Virgin Megastores Japan which introduced Guy’s talents to this dynamic company. Guy assisted with the setting up of, and produces DJ programs for the Tsutaya Records dedicated cable radio network broadcast to over 300 Tsutaya stores across Japan.

Hong Kong radio station 864 Monday-Friday midmorning program & Sunday evening UK music program Go-London DJ. These programs were recorded at FM America/Orbitune studios in Tokyo.

Up 1st – Monday-Friday breakfast program. This was one of Guy’s most passionate projects which ran for 18 months & broke new ground in Tokyo radio & became one of Inter FM’s highest rating shows. One high point was broadcasting the program live from the Virgin Radio studio’s in London for 1 week in 2002 with a host of UK music guest interviews.
2003
A complete station programming re-shuffle moved Guy to the longest daytime timeslot Inter FM (& possibly any radio station) has had – the 6 hour Longhaul program on-air Monday-Friday 10am-4pm!
2005
Another programming shuffle & The Longhaul got shorter & became Supersonic – on-air Monday-Friday 1-4pm & introduced Virgin Mega Station DJ Sayoko Kamei as co-host.
Toyota Groove In The City – Saturday afternoon program featuring radio:on:active DJ mixes & topics about Tokyo, London & New York with co-host Keiko Onuki.
2006
Yet another programming change & the Monday-Friday daytime slot was expanded to 12-4pm and became the smooth sounding Rythm Of The City also with co-host Sayoko Kamei.
The Longhaul, Supersonic & Rythm Of The City programs are workday & driver companions with music, news & entertainment info. A huge array of celebrity & cutting-edge guests have come on the programs for interviews & live studio sessions.
2007
Inter FM ownership & management changes bring more programming changes & Guy moves to evening & weekend program Nightlife featuring his selection of cutting edge electronic lounge & club music.
2008
The weekly Guy Perryman Show is broadcast across Japan on the Meganet FM network. This Sunday night program closes the weekend with the weeks best new music & a digest of Guy’s interviews with musicians & creative people visiting Japan.
2009
Guy returns to daily weekday prime-time radio together with long time co-host Sayoko Kamei on the 10am-3pm program Global Satellite. A non-stop music program featuring international topics & guests.
2012
Guy and Sayoko decide to move on to new programs and with all of the excitement of the London Olympics 2012 Guy produces and hosts LHR – London Hit Radio – Japan’s only dedicated British music, entertainment and guest program on air Monday-Friday 11:30am-1:30pm with co-host Madoka “Maddie” Kato.
