1997~
Founded radio:on:active - a network of DJ’s & music lovers who wanted to get good music on the radio. The core team included Dennis Oliver, Sonsu Shin & Hitoshi Nozu.
Set up streetside studio at Vision Network/Las Chicas, Aoyama.
radio:on:active fills a niche market in Tokyo providing programs for radio stations, DJ’s for events, narrators for commercial work & audio services including DJ training, voice workshops & voice narration demo recording.
radio:on:active DJ’s believe radio should be out in public places (not behind closed studio doors) - so have set up DJ booths at many events including Fuji Rock Festival & Design Festa.
The annual radio:on:active birthday on 10:10 has become a major event in Tokyo with parties being held at the Cybernet Cafe, Harajuku; Club Code, Shinjuku; Ben’s Cafe, Takadanobaba & Super Deluxe, Nishi Azabu.
1997-2002
Specialist Music & Creative Culture Programs were broadcast 24 hours a day across Japan on CAN System cable radio network.
2000-2002
Opened radio:on:studio & bar, Gaienmae which became a hub for radio:on:active DJ events, live music & Eyesaw artist exhibitions.
2001-2005
radio:on:active DJ’s produced 20 minute music sweeps broadcast twice daily on Inter FM in Tokyo.
2003-2004
radio:on:active programs were broadcast every Saturday & Sunday night on community radio station FM Salus in Tokyo.
2005~
radio:on:active DJ’s started the event Expansion held monthly at various clubs around Tokyo - an “open-decks” night providing an outlet for new DJ’s to spin & get on: the air.
